It would appear you've independently discovered what is commonly called OPR
Although it works very well this year, it can also work well in more defense-heavy years. The main breakage for OPR is exponential scoring (2007) or piece-limited scoring (2011), or when it _really_ matters how resistant you are to scoring (2009).
As a guy that once wrote a OPR scraper way back in the day, I gotta say that's a fantasticly concise implementation
