and most people have never heard of Carson. Maybe only known scientists should have fields named after them like Stephen Hawking, Ada Lovelace, Thomas Edison, or Dmitri Mendeleev. Anyone have any opinions?

So what if people haven't heard of her? Does that make her work any less influential and impactful?
She did more than alert the world about pesticides and the environment; she inspired the green revolution.
Read her book.
