Re: Karthik & 1114: Effective FIRST Strategies 2015 - Championship Conference

I didn't get to go, but many people from the rest of my team did.

As for unique things I haven't heard in his talks before, others told me Karthik hinted at 150ms being the time to beat for canburglars and that while there is an obvious chokehold strategy, it only applies to SF's / Finals. The biggest takeaway my team got from the overall presentation was the difference in time commitment between a normal team and a dominant team and how it relates to the strategy a team decides to go after (i.e. Karthik's Golden Rules).

Karthik made a snip about pretty robots, which he always does. A few of my mentors thought it was specifically us, but - ahem - there are plenty of teams it could apply to. While those types of comments are a tough pill to swallow, they are the reality in some cases. In this particular case it was a driving force of change. It finally got my entire team all on the same page as me and one of my drivers with respect to our Champs strategy. It was definitely easier to make the robot changes and have a very good streak of matches on Friday with the whole team's backing.

Thank you again to Karthik and his crew for putting on this seminar. I can't wait for the upload!
