Re: Texas Robotics Invitational 2015 - "TRI Again" - Jun 20th

Weather
Tropical Storm Bill has come in to Houston but our venue and the surrounding area was not hit very hard. The event will go on. If your team is no longer coming please let me know ASAP.

There are expectations of rain on Friday and Saturday so plan accordingly. Like last year the robots will travel briefly outside during the event but under a covered walkway. I don't imagine the rain being an issue during the event but it may be smart to have a tarp or something for loading, etc.

Workshops
We are pleased to announce that we will have 5 workshops at TRI this year. There will be signup sheets at Administration for each of these workshops. The workshops will be in our STEM building, located near the gyms.

9:30 AM - Noon
FIRST Progression Workshops
We will have three separate workshops covering FLL, FTC, & FRC. They will be given by the event organizers in the Houston area. See the attached PDF for full descriptions and schedules.

10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
From strategic requirements to robot design. - Aren Hill FRC#1296
"Discussion and examples of how to handle the transition from what strategy dictates to what your team can make. I will be sharing my experiences and what has worked for me in the past for this step, in addition to discussion regarding "how far to reach" mentalities based on team resources."

1:00 PM - 2 PM
Building a Sustainable Team: - Andrew Lynch FRC#2587
"Building a successful team is difficult but making a sustainable team is easy. The presentation will overview recruitment to fundraising and everything in between that creates a sustainable team. "

Webcast
The event will be streamed live and archived for later watching.
You will be able to find a full field stream here.
https://www.youtube.com/user/Spectrum3847

Also the multi camera stream will be provided by team 118
https://www.youtube.com/user/Robonauts118

Event Times
Robot/Pit Drop Off after 4pm Friday (We'll probably be at the venue till 10pm or so but if you could do it by 8pm that would be great)

Doors Open at 7am Saturday Morning (Volunteers and event staff will start showing up 6am, if you need something)

Opening Ceremonies at 8:15am

Lunch break at Noon

Event should end between 5pm-6pm.

Clean up should end by 10pm. If you can stay and help we appreciate it.

Address
8900 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX, 77036
Gyms are located at the north end of the main parking lot.

Team Count
We currently have 25 Teams signed up. Full Team List
