Most universities have a free site license for CAD/CAM, especially if it is used in conjunction with a class. Typically you get the install instructions and any license keys from someone at your university (each university generally has its own license key and install). Someone that works in the library will usually know how to get you access to all the free software you are entitled to as a student. In some cases there is a separate IT department that handles this, but I have found the library knows who to contact.
Keep in mind you will likely get other software for free while you are an engineering student. I always had a free copy of one or more CAD programs and either MATLAB or Mathmatica at every engineering school I attended.
