Get used to it. I clearly recall this same moment ca 1984 (Orwell), Sept 13, 1999 (when the nuclear waste dump exploded on the moon per Space 1999, a really cheesy TV show) and 2001 and 2010 (Clarke). Hitting 1975, when Heinlein put a man on the moon, wasn't as exciting, as we beat his time by six years. I certainly didn't imagine that we wouldn't be
back on the moon for forty more years (and still counting).
