Rules are updated on 2169's website:

NORMAL GAMEPLAY
INSPECTION: Minimal inspection – for safety and liability purposes as well as basic training for students. Robot may be up to 125 lbs. Honor system on legality. +5 pounds allowed. Gross/obvious violations of robot rules will be identified by the referees and must be corrected before the robot can continue to play matches. All other FIRST robot rules apply.

DRIVE TEAM COACHES: For the purpose of training student drive team coaches, an experienced drive team coach will be allowed in the arena with a team’s drive team during a match. This means 2 coaches are allowed.

GENERAL: No rule changes to the game and how it is played and scored.

FINALS MATCHES
ALLIANCES: Four teams will be on each alliance in the finals. The 4th team is the backup. Broken robots are replaced by the backup robot for their alliance. Once the backup robot is played, the robot it replaced cannot be played again.

ALLIANCE SELECTION ORDER: Alliance selection order is as follows: 1-4, 4-1, 1-4.

DRIVE TEAM COACHES: One member from the non-playing team may be part of the drive team group as the 2nd allowed coach.
