It would depend on the robot design, but climbing the mountain would also be necessary for robots that score by dumping which is probably the simplest mechanism for scoring debris in the mountain goals.
Though, climbing the mountain during teleop wouldn't be necessary for robot designs like 4997's:

Teams can also climb in autonomous as well for a decent amount of points as well.
