They've been around for a long time. Last season the only multis had one big robot and one or more "minibots," but other teams have done multibots which split the weight between them pretty evenly. It's an interesting challenge because the total robot weight is what counts, and an impact between a 250lb robot and a 125lb robot isn't going to go well for the 125lber unless it's built very defensively. FRC where you're playing against the field as much/more than you are playing against your opponent.
