well i did had a problem with 2015 driver station but i reinstalled it and that worked ...

also, dont use the preview builds of windows 10 on a leptop for programming, it probably will do a LOT of problems i you ask me ...
Well, like I said, somehow the Windows.old directory got decimated. It is still there, but 95% of the files and directories are gone. I am a programmer and know what I am doing. I am pretty sure that I didn't inadvertently delete that stuff, especially piecemeal. And then there is the issue of Windows 10 not being able to be downgraded if you wait till after a month. I got no warning of this when I upgraded. Did any of you get that information in the upgrade process?

Also, when I installed 10 apparently it tried to install my old apps but somehow screwed up the registry because when I try to update any of the apps that 10 installed I get the message "The file you are trying to access is on a network resource that is unavailable". Very strange.

Needless, I tried removing the 2015 update from Programs & Features with no success. Then I removed all references to it in the registry and tried to re-install it, all to no avail. I'll keep trying different things since you said you were successful. I'd rather not scuttle my install and have to re-install from scratch.

Anyhow, hope this is helpful to someone. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had similar trouble.
