Figures 1-1 and 2-1 couldn't represent an actual game state, because in a real game the defense in the middle slot is same for both alliances. I don't think this is a mistake though--I think they just wanted to show all the different defenses in the same diagram, a configuration which isn't possible in a real match.

Page 100, 5.5.10.1 says that the audience selects Outer Works pos 3, and in figure 2-4, it shows pos 3 as in the center (of the 5 outer works spots) and in fugure 2-1 the audience selected is in pos 2 and 4, which is incorrect.

I'm not sure what you what you mean by saying the audience-selected defenses are in slots 2 and 4. The only distinguishing feature of the audience-selected defenses is that they're in the middle--how can you look at a static diagram and conclude that they're in the wrong place?
