3937 was experiencing the same error message, but when I took a roborio home, I was able to update it just fine. Through a process of elimination, we concluded it was while our nav6 was connected to the roborio that it was having issues. Mentioned this to one of our older mentors, and he remembered that we had to disable the console out (which proved to resolve the issue).

If you have a nav6 (or anything else plugged into the rs-232 port), you need to disconnect it while to image the roborio and unselect the 'enable console out' checkbox on the imaging tool.

Unfortunately, if you are not using the serial port, than your error is likely unrelated.
