Yes, you can use any router you want to at home.
It's just a router/AP, nothing special.
You don't even have to change the router IP to a 0. address, it's just usually convenient to do so.
DHCP serving 10.te.am.20 and higher addresses (or similar) is all that's necessary.
I use all my old outdated home AP/router/DSL/whatever to run old robots.
