So, my team went for a motorized kick in 2014, and really regretted it.
Here's our reveal video from that year.
It's a different game, and the game piece is much lighter this year, so you might not have the same problems, but here are some points that we had problems with that you might want to consider:
- A kicker usually means you are shooting from down low. If you're going for distance, that means your shots can be easily blocked. (you don't seem to have this problem if you're only shooting from the batter.
- Different battery voltages meant the kick had varying strength. the nature of the mechanism prevents you from using closed loop control to get a consistant speed as well.
- The ball can not be held while you are kicking it. even having a holding mechanism which releases at just the right time still opens you up to a defensive bump in the critical moment.
- The above two points also means it is virtually impossible to shoot while driving. There's a significant delay between when you get to a point and when you actually shoot. this opens you up to defense.
So that's some stuff that we had trouble with in 2014, most of it, I think, applies this year as well so try and see if you can avoid those problems somehow.
Good luck!
