We used 4 on last years robot to see if a tote was aligned and square to our elevator. Worked well for us. Needed a 1/v type equation to convert voltage to distance. Did not research drift nor accuracy characteristics. It just worked to see if the tote was 3 inches out. Seemed to work equally well on yellow and gray totes.

You need to isolate the sensor case. We found that there was some conductivity Between ground and the case when doing inspection at event.

They are really cheap.
