While I haven't done this in the past, I agree with the suggestion of alcohol; it should dissolve or colloid the same stuff that will stick to the rubber. If you're going to do some experimentation, add baby wipes to the list of things to test. They're alcohol based, very convenient, and easy to source in a pinch.
