From my interpretation of page 11 of the FIRST branding rules guidelines PDF available on the FIRST website, the rule against putting the FIRST logo on a "distracting background" applies to the FIRST logo itself, and does not apply to any of the subsets (ie, FIRST Stronghold logo) of the FIRST logo. The page I downloaded a vector of the FIRST Stronghold logo from is an official FIRST page.
Also note that the FIRST Stronghold logo is marked with a Service Mark, meaning it has not been registered with a trademark office. Meanwhile, the official FIRST logo has been marked by a (R) restricted trademark symbol, meaning it has been registered with a trademark office.
If an official representative of FIRST contacts me asking that it be changed, I will do so. For now, I do not see that I have violated any of FIRST's branding rules or guidelines.
From the page containing the FIRST Stronghold logo EPS and JPG files: "FIRST STRONGHOLD℠ logo is made available to the public to promote your team and the FIRST Robotics Competition."
