Not a good day for red alliances until the end

He only took the highest score from each event.

The highest score of 2014 occurred in Quals 4 of Greater Toronto East. The red alliance's score at the end of the match was 420 points - that's a huge score. However, 150 of those points came from Blue Alliance foul points. It looks like the Blue Alliance accidentally inbounded an extra ball, which comes with huge penalties.
The question is: Did the red alliance earn those 420 points? No. They earned 270, which, although impressive, does not surpass some of the other great efforts from alliances in 2014. That's why foul points annoy me sometimes - they make it so alliance's score doesn't necessarily reflect the outcome of their own efforts in a match.

Not counting fouls would mean that it was not technically the highest score ever recorded. They are just two different categories. Ultimately it's all just for fun anyways.
