Just make sure you get the polarity correct. Most things are center pin positive, but better to take the time to check (if your current, damaged plug can still output voltage, putting a multimeter in there only costs a few seconds) than to fry the board.


Also, I really don't like the idea of "getting lucky" when trying random electronic components, and hoping for the best.
Unless they are my own personal items that I don't care about.
