Considering that the Appalachian mountains are the best mountains, that of course makes the FIRST teams of the Appalachian states a force to be reckoned with:

We have the best mascots (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69uXfw2lqqA). We have the cheesiest teams (http://www.bluecheese1086.org/) and the cheesiest cheesecake (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uyr-WSKnbQ). ... and of course we have Wil Payne.

So in proper reverence to the best mountains, real mountain lovers should also keep an eye on the Rocket City Regional, the Finger Lakes Regional, the Central Maryland Event, and the Central Virginia Event.
Don't forget that the Rockies also go into Canada and down through most of South America
