The Appalachian Mountains (over 500 million years old) were presumed to be, at one time, as large as or larger than the Rockies. They are thought to be the oldest mountain range on earth.
A high spirited teenager, the Rocky Mountains (around 50 million years old) will see changes of its own over time and over the years will hopefully gain respect for a deserving and weathered veteran.
