In all the matches that I watched the flaps seemed to stop the rolling boulders.

I didn't see any robots get hung up on the flaps (some interesting bounces off the supports around them).

For your team was the change a big deal or just big drama?

Balls are getting stuck in the flaps which can cause issues.
