The ability to iterate your design and improve its performance throughout a season at competitions is invaluable.
All for the cost of 2 Regionals if you go to a District CMP.
Witness 195's genesis from a High Goal cycler to their 2-ball autonomous with a scaler. Other teams have had the opportunity to practice & improve their High Goal capability and scalers as well.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out at the CMP in 11 days.
Big thanks to FiM for getting this boulder rolling.
There is good reason that FIRST will be holding one of the dual championships in Detroit in 2 years.

I agree. The district model definitely gives teams more playing time for less money. It also provides for a lot more time to get to know other teams in your district which breeds respect and camaraderie among the teams as well as great opportunities to create synergy in the match strategies.
We were lucky to get to know Mechanical Mayhem well when we worked with them in 2015 at the UMASS-Dartmouth district event... and we were really happy to see them again at the Pinetree district event this year... and even happier to get to work with them at the NE DCMP this weekend. We were also thrilled when we both received acknowledgement as District Chairman's Award teams.

They are a great team both on an off the field.
I also want to give a shout out to the young student who had stopped by our pit with his dad/mentor to check out our carbon fiber catapult and pickup mechanism.
He casually mentioned before they walked away that he wanted to let us know that he had noticed that there was a crack in 2 brackets that were holding up the front end of our bumper frame.
His observation allowed us to swap out the damaged brackets for the stronger replacements we had brought with us during down time between our matches instead of having to deal with them when they broke during a match (possibly waiting until eliminations). Unfortunately I don't know what team they were with (they had jackets on) but maybe he participates on CD and will see this post. (If you know who this might be please let us know). I wanted to thank him for his gracious professionalism in giving us that heads up. He truly gets what FIRST is about.
