The Wrath of Mildread II!
S.W.A.T.
Team 771
Robot Name: Mildread II
Pros:
Differential Steering, Direct Drive (2 wheel drive), two casters located at back for tight turns (spins on a dime!), two side flaps (17" each, pneumatically driven for a total wingspan of 60"), one top flap pneumatically driven (at max. extension is 48" tall), autonomous mode: dead-reckoning programs for various situations (reliable and work well - will be tweaked on Thursday), all components are enclosed by an aluminum frame making a solid and strong shield against other robots, fits underneath the bar, 122 lbs, doesn't tip over, speedy, can take out 4/6 stacks of boxes at top of ramp, top flap angled slightly forward to ensure that stack will topple. The robot is also extremely reliable, not having any parts break or fail during the Canadian Regional.
Human Players:
Beyond our robot, the group on the playing field is also well organized, consisting of the driver, a strategist (communicates with the driver), a timer (keeps everyone updated on the time), and a communicator (speaks with a member of our alliance team to make sure we're on the same page). Our stacker is fairly quick, usually making it back to the pad within 7 seconds. We communicate well with our alliance team well before matches so we can determine each other's strengths and weaknesses, ensuring a well-played match!
Cons:
Doesn't stack (though it hasn't put us at much of a disadvantage)
2003 Canadian Regional Judges Award
2003 Canadian Regional quarter-finalists
