For something like this, you can take an old 12V hand drill (or other power tool), remove the motor, and terminate those wires however you like. The trigger gives you variable control over the supplied voltage, and the switch reverses it! Battery included, all in one handheld device. Hook it up to the motor and you're good to go. Downside is that you probably only want to run one large motor off of it...
