Aluminum rendering issues in Solidworks (+ solution)

I've recently been experiencing rendering issues with aluminum in solidworks; it often appears very grainy and checkered. If anybody else is having this problem, opening up the part, clearing the appearance, then changing it to "polished aluminum" works really well to make it look nice again.
I also added an extra light.

In the attached picture, you can see how the top rail looks almost "static-y" and the bottom-left rail looks totally smooth.
