Actually... That great season wasn't it at all, and 39 wasn't the only team to come out of that.
Short version: Sponsor moved, schools separated into their own teams. 39 was the "primary" school, and opted for a veteran number. Two other teams picked up numbers in the 1100s as the year they joined the team. And, I think there's been a team or two somewhat recently that's had Team 64 as a sponsor (no kidding). I think said teams also had 64's primary sponsor.
