You are correct that we used vision during auto. One thing that might not be so evident is that from our 2nd competition on, we actually had a vision check in the firing sequence. The primary driver (myself) would line up manually using the flashlight and a vertical crosshair on the driver station. The secondary driver would then attempt to fire. The vision processing code would run, and only if the diffX was within the acceptable bounds would it shoot. This saved us many potentially missed shots.
5813 Morpheus did fantastic this season; they are certainly one of my favorite rookies this year. In terms of robot design, they did everything right for a first year team. A relatively simple design that is well executed can perform exceptionally. If I remember correctly, they actually made a pre-season robot for recycle rush and competed in Battle of the Bay with it.
