Re: Community-Based Teams: How do you get your name out there?

While we are a school-based team, at least a few of the things we do should be applicable to community teams:
  • Demos at (non-robo) summer camps. We recently did a demo at a local "fit as a firefighter" camp hosted by the local hospitals and businesses - demo'd to four groups of about 25 middle and upper elementary students in just two hours.
  • Demos in other public places, particularly in front of a retail sponsor's place of business, and at local fairs (e.g. in the public parks).
  • We try to keep our (professionally wrapped) trailer parked in a publicly visible location most of the time.
  • Yard signs for team members to place at their homes. While we do these through the school, you could do this as a team.
