We’re likely the only Puget Sound team to attend one Oregon event each year of the district model. - Wilsonville (2015 & 2017), Oregon City (2014), and Philomath (2016). Guess will have to add Lake Oswego at some point!

Home events are assigned to teams by the district. The only practical consequence of a home event assignment is that for the initial registration teams have the option to either sign up for their home event or wait until later to be allowed to sign up for any event.
Home events are assigned quasi-geographically, and they seem to make sense for the most part. However, there isn't any definite criteria published and thing that seems to be 100% consistent is that a team hosting an event gets that as their home.
From a travel standpoint, I agree that the Auburn and Auburn Mountainview events are interchangable, and that the same is true for Oregon City and Wilsonville. Interestingly, the new Lake Oswego event is also really close to both Oregon City and Wilsonville - if you were driving South from Washington just get off the freeway 10 minutes earlier.
We're going to look forward to seeing your team and your robot next year. Will it go back to being round? I think we've found that we like to do about one trip to Washington every year, so assuming that we make it to district championships again we'll have met our quota.
