GRC had one instance of it being used by a team that wanted to make sure all of the high goal shots were correctly counted. As the next match set up, the head referee sat down with me at the webcast table and we pulled up the previous match video. We re-watched the match and the head referee was able to easily count each ball being scored in the high goal. Afterwards they confirmed it with the team and that was it. There was no delay to the event or anything event-related. Overall I thought it was a success.

At least to your first points - technology and energy required are basically the same if you're already webcasting the event.
