My team (Industrial Revolution) recently made a
petition on change.org because we think it would be a good opportunity for Minnesota to join STEMx.
According to their website, "The STEMx™ network is a multi-state STEM network developed for states, by states. This grassroots movement provides an accessible platform to share, analyze and disseminate quality STEM education tools to transform education, expand the number of STEM teachers, increase student achievement in STEM and grow tomorrow’s innovators."
The state STEM leaders involved in this network meet annually at the STEMxchange to sit down, chat, and plan collective action.
The network is composed of 21 state STEM networks:
Arizona
California
Colorado
Florida
Guam
Idaho
Indiana
Kentucky
Maryland
New York
North Carolina
Ohio
Oklahoma
Oregon
Pennsylvania
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Virgin Islands
Washington
Washington D.C.
West Virginia
With the increasing need for our youth to be educated in the growing fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, we believe that it would be extremely beneficial for our state's STEM leaders to consider making Minnesota a member of this network. We created this petition in the hopes of getting our state's STEM specialist to notice this network and consider involving our state. With Minnesota already having more FIRST teams than most other states, we have a very strong STEM program, and our team thinks that joining this network would strengthen this already strong department. Please check our petition out; any help will be greatly appreciated!
