When I was head programmer (for 3 years) I had to rewrite/redeploy auton code in queue a number of times. One time I even had to redeploy on the field because the last deploy got corrupted so we had no robot code at all. Luckily I was a driver anyway so it didn't matter, but in that case if I weren't I would have stolen a driver pin and went out as a driver until the problem were fixed.
