All the design trades indicate classic AM thinking: robustness is worth a little weight. About a pound heavier than a DS -- but this will be a good trade for many teams.
I only wish the release had coincided with my team's Summer/Fall projects.

Speaking as a mentor of a team where a hundredth of an inch is a theory, WOW! Two pounds more than somebody's custom shifting gearbox is barely noise. Once we figured out that 80-20 was for prototypes and not competition robots, and that steel was only for fasteners and actuators, weight hasn't been a serious issue for us. If shifting is needed for our strategy this year, this will be way high up the list.
