I'm not saying these are practical gear defense strategies, but I sure wouldn't leave a gear hanging on a lift waiting for a pickup without a robot around. Also ripe fodder for Q&A's, but lacking a team probably means I can't Q&A anymore.

What incentive do you have to not have the pilot raise the lift as soon as possible? I don't really get why anyone would consider just leaving the gear on the floor long after the robot has physically cleared the space.
Ultimately this defense is physically constrained by the offensive robot being directly in front of the scoring element as it's going up, ideally.
