Re: Georgia Dome
2010:
Friday afternoon our robot fell from the bar in the second to last match of the day due to a bad cable crimp. One of our articulating drive pods was wrecked and we had just over an hour to our final match of the day.
We knew if we didn't get the robot back on the field and perform we wouldn't get picked because everyone would write us off.
Fortunately we had the parts ready and practiced this fix once we realized it was a possibility. The kids on our pit crew were prepping and had everything ready for when the robot got back and started working before the cart stopped in the pit. They rebuilt the drive and we had the robot re-inspected got out to the field for one of the final matches of the day and were able to show HOT that everything was working and we were good to go.
Saturday morning when the alliance selection is going on we are available for the #1 alliance of 67 and 294 to take as the final pick.
This went on to be our 5th consecutive trip to Einstein, and 2nd Championship.
All this happened because our pit crew was ready to go when they needed to be under real pressure and they didn't want to let the team down.
This was my best Georgia Dome moment and my best mentor moment at the same time.
