Re: Confusion On Bringing Our Own Rope

Trying to cut through the crud, because your poorly researched and asked question has quite honestly brought out close to the worst CD has to offer: The rope rules have been among the most demanding subject for the GDC/answer team this year. Go get the LATEST version of the rules, and search the Q&A for ROPE rules. These have changed, or at least shifted, twice a week, except for TU#6. There are very specific requirements for length, width, loops, knots, the RETAINING FEATURE, and the mechanism by which the rope is held together by all those small strands, which have evolved over build season. Metal and non-fibrous materials are very definitely out. After you've worked through all these issues, feel free to ask questions about what you still don't quite understand.

Edit: In response to the previous post -- YES, we are planning to bring our own, and NO, we are not planning to have any velcro on our rope. We have found a solution that works on unmodified COTS rope and strap, which is readily available and should be familiar to FRC teams.
