I'm honestly embarrassed to admit that I didn't (I kind of assumed a weird typo, which is a ridiculous assumption on my part). Now that I have looked it up, I am guessing that the robot just spun in circles...which is what pblankenbaker pointed out should happen given the conditional structure.
