it would feel incredibly odd to have my fullname as a "username"; one such as this one (used for loggin in to the site); there is great urge to keep my username in lower case and at most 8 characters long; anything else would be the end of the world !!

so i guess the problem is after reading this and seeing all the different username is that peope interpret username as a different thing; some think its their first / last / fullname / nickname or something like this and others (like me) think its a shortened unique identifier of me on the board used for loggin in

because of this the "aka" field has many interpretations also; if people put their fullnames into the username then the aka field is pretty much free game as it seems but as i read and see others are using it for fullnames; and others like me use it for other things (like my "crud" name which is probably only common to team 190 members)

so my suggestion would be to make a seperate and not required fullname field which would leave the aka field for whatever people feel like putting in there; on the forum the default indicator would be their fullname prefered over the username field; so if they filled in their fullname, it would show up instead of the username; thats just an idea; its how i would have done things; but then i'm pretty dumb anyway
