Why stop at helium? My chemistry tells me that hydrogen is even less dense than air, thusly making your robot that much lighter. Oh and sure the hidenburg esque fire hazard is a slight concern, but you should give it a try
. But that was a correct assumption, helium will leak through rubber. It was tried on the U-2 spy plane to make it lighter but the air just leaked out
