Okay, so we know that this apparantly started happening suddenly, last night. Since it was so sudden, it is very very unlikely that it is was caused by IE or windows.... Simply because not everybody does windows updates in that amount of time. I haven't run a windows update and it happens to me.

While there is probably a bug in IE which allows this to happen (and always has allowed it), the problem probably started when a change was made to the php code which ultimately spits out HTML. There's something in the html that crashes something in IE and images stop working until you restart it.

I tried validating the site through W3. W3 tried using an algorithm to detect what encoding the site is using. It failed. I suspect there may be some really odd character that is getting inserted into the HTML text somewhere after the last working image and before the first non-working image.

If that's not the cause, this site is not using valid HTML. There's mismatching <font> tags all over the place, for example. According to standard, browsers aren't supposed to be able to support pages like this. I doubt this is the case though, I think it's some encoding problem.
