I've seen one person, your average Joe, using a segway in my home town, and that's it. He was using it because it looked like his foot was slightly deformed, but in any case, he was pretty good at controlling it because it was during a street fair with tons of people.
I don't think Segway will catch on, for a while in anycase, for the average person. It's just not worth it. That doesn't mean I'd take one if offered to me though
