D.J. is right. Well, except for the part about Frank Gotch being the American champ Hackenschmidt beat. That was Tom Jenkins. Frank Gotch won it after Hackenschmidt refused to return to the ring during their match in 1908. Gotch retired in 1913, still holding the title. It was vacated, and about a year later, Charlie Cutler laid claim to the world title. He lost it in his first defense. Those three would never hold the title again. Let me remind you that at this time, the fights were still real.

So in conclusion, the first NWA world champ would be George Hackenschmidt, and after he lost it in 1908, he'd never hold it again. That'd be 500 points for D.J.
