Our comp is one of our teams major fundraisers and it brings awareness to first and really does present great learning opportunities to the rookies and other students. I completely agree with Dave. I am a sophmore and drove over 100 matches my freshman year it was very competeive but the more I participated in FIRST the more I realized it wasn't about all the competing, it was what I was learning. (I learned a lot too. Just ask Cliff or Dave about drill motor brushes.) Going to Ramp Riot was a huge successs for our newbs too. We had them doing everything from rankin, basic scouting, to batteries to robot repair and preperation. I have never seen a bunch of rookies learn so quikly and enjoy what they were doing. To me that is the biggest part of FIRST. Teaching, and having others learn For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science, and Technology.
