Re: Robots by committee

We had the entire team at the kick-off and involved everyone in the concept definition phase. Thru brainstorming and small group work, we have a conceptual design that the whole team has arrived on together. Once we agreed on a single design, we broke into component teams, each with an engineer, lead student, draftsperson and other members. Others are working on drafting parts, macining, electronics development and PR / marketing. The more experienced students work the detailed design with the engineers.

I believe the role of the program manager should be to assure the team is staying on schedule and getting things accomplished - not to make all the decisions.
