Could be a lot of things:
1) Did you dismount the motors and gears? Check your assembly (happened to us last week, overheating and all)
2) De-solder: have you ever seen some begginer student soldering something? That big ball of metal, huge and ugly?
Try that, because this motors actually drain a lot of power.
