Re: What would be the best device to herd the balls? Please respond!!!

during the off season we took the 2x4 alum beams and the FIRST gear boxes from last year, and build a pratice/default base frame for driver pratice and testing control stuff - its a 2 wheel drive w/1 castor simple bot, we named it Frank after our sponsor night factory supervisor

we tried pushing balls around with Frank last week wednesday, with bars on the front, and a U-shaped collector, that let the balls roll on the floor

and we quickly learned the balls jam and wedge very easilly if you simply try to push them around.

we came to the conclusion that to have any control over the balls you will have to capture them inside your machine - that means a floor or storage area, and some way to push the balls into that space, and a way to get them back out - if you simply try to drive into the balls the will either wedge or bounce away.
