The beach ball exhibit you're describing is a demonstration of the Bernoulli principle -- that which makes flight possible.

Using that sort of exhibit in a game, though, would seem somewhat silly. It is typically very unstable and the ball will begin to oscillate back and forth in the air, eventually losing lift and falling off to the side.
