We have a four-man animation team. We're all essentially novices, but I was very much satisfied with the animation that we built, considering that we're rookies. We might get two more to join the animation team in 2005, but the way I like to run the department is without any mentors. We learn from eachother and it's really fun having a "guys' night" with animation parties in which you stay up till 4AM doing 3ds max... because you put the AVA entry on the backburner during the build season and had five days to do the entire thing.

I really don't think that the amount of people on your animation team really counts, though. With even one determined person, you can shell out some really hot stuff in the two months you have to work on it, compared to a group of ten people who don't put their heart into it. But, it's just better and friendlier when you have more than one person; you make really close friends with them throughout the season and when all's said and done, you have a very impressive,
teamwork built animation entry--and teamwork is what it's all about, right?
