Having just switched from Yahoo to gmail like...an hour ago, I may post an opinion. The interface on Gmail is fabulous. As mentioned, the speed is a huge advantage, because I love sending/recieving large files, and storing my emails. The chat-based email sort system is really handy: it is advantageous to see all the previous posts on one subject so you don't have to go looking for them. It's really convenient to get in to: it won't ask for a password for about 2 weeks, and since I'm the primary user if this computer, and the only gmailer in the family, I'm fond of it.

If you can get an invitation, and aren't afraid to switch all your account stuff, I would definitly recommend Gmail.
